By Speedboat: Leelawadee Speedboat company is closely related to the Makathanee resort. Lelawadee Speedboat pier at the Makathanee resort on Koh MakBesides a possible stop on one of the few islands that lie between the Krom Lung pier at the mainland and Koh Mak, the Leelawadee speedboat will take you directly to the pier at the Makathanee resort. Departures from Laem Ngop are daily at 10:30 and 14:00 and from the Makathanee Pier back to Laem Ngop departures are at 08:00 and 11:00. The journey takes apr. 45 minutes and the current fare is 450 baht per person for a one-way ticket. During the low season other schedules apply.
By Slow boat: For those that are not in a rush to go get to the islands or that carry a lot of luggage, there is also a much slower big boat. This converted fishing boat departs from the same pier in Laem Ngop, but travels to the Ao Nid pier near our sister resort: the Koh Mak Retreat. The slow boat to Koh Maak departs at 15:00 from the Laem Ngop pier and sails in the opposite way at 08:00. Tickets are 300 baht per person one way and this journey lasts about 3 hours. Pick up from the Ao Nid pier to the Makathanee Resort Koh Mak is available at no extra charge to guests of the Makathanee resort.
By private Car: Find the quickest way to the new Suvarnabhumi airport, but continue to follow the Highway No. 7 (Tollway) until you find the exit to Highway number 344 in the direction of Baan Bun and Kleang. This exit lies about 2 km. after the second Toll booth. Follow this road until it rejoins Highway number 3 in the direction of Chantaburi and Trat. Continue until you pass the combined army and police checkpoint that stands approximately 25 km's before Trat city. After this you turn right at traffic lights next to the gasoline station. There is a huge sign directing you towards Koh Chang on the opposite side of the road. Follow this road, passing both the Ao Thammachat (Koh Chang ferry) and Centerpoint ferry piers Gate to the Laem Ngop pier. Approximately 5 km's later there is a large gate on the right where you turn to the Krom Luang pier from where the speedboats and slow boat depart. If you come to a junction with traffic lights, you missed the turn. Alternatively, you can follow the highway all the way through Trat city continuing on the same road for about 20 km's. When you find the traffic lights with a small police post right next to it, turn right and be on the lookout for the above mention gate and signs for a naval monument. Pass through this gate, follow the road until the junction to turn left. You will pass the monument and find the large concrete Krom Luang pier on your right. Driver up the pier to unload luggage and ask our ticket booth staff for the secure parking lot where Parking is 50 baht per day. A motorcycle taxi will guide you there and take you back to the boat afterwards. Total distance is about 350 kilometers.
By Minibus or Taxi service: Chauffeur driven minibuses or taxies are available year round for pick ups from anywhere within the Thai borders.

By Bus / Coach / Shared minibus:
Bus 9908 (or 999) Government operated air conditioned coaches from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Laem Ngop or Trat city. Bus directly to Laem Ngop arrives at the airport's bus terminal at 08:15 and 10:15. Departures to Trat city from the airport at 6:40, 10:10, 11:40, 13:10, 16:10, 18:10, 8:25 and 10:25. In the opposite direction departures are from Laem Ngop at 14:00 and 16:00 and from Trat at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 11:30, 12:30 and 16:00. Current rate is 270 baht per person one-way.
Shared minibuses can be booked from most travel agents in Bangkok. Departure is usually from the Police station on Kao Sarn Road. In busy times there will be coaches and rates may vary. Minibuses also shuttle between Bangkok's Victory monument and the 3 main piers in Laem Ngop.
By Air plane: Bangkok Airways is also the owner of Trat airport, so only they are allowed to fly there. During the low season there are flight twice daily, while in the high and peak season this number will increase to 3 or even 4 flights a day. Check out www.bangkokair.com for fare and availability. As of late 2010 direct flights to and from Koh Samui and Phuket are also on the schedule. To get from Trat Airport to the pier in Laem Ngop we recommend booking a private pick up from Trat Airport.
By Speedboat: a new direct speedboat service from Koh Chang's Kai Bae beach will now take you directly to the Koh Mak pier at the Makathanee resort. Departures from Kai Bae are daily at 11:00 and the journey takes about 45 minutes. From the Koh Mak pier at the Makathanee Resort, this speedboat will continue to Koh Kood. The next morning it will start it's journey from the resort on Koh Kood at 10:30 to arrive at the Makathaee pier on Koh Mak around 11:15 and continue from there back to it's base on Kai Bae beach on Koh Chang. The current fare is 600 baht per person for a one-way ticket ticket from Koh Chang to Koh Mak and 400 baht from Koh Mak to Koh Kood. During the low season other schedules will apply. Current daily schedule is valid until early May, but there might be a 3 days / week service after that form the Bang Bao pier to a drop off point about 200 meters down the beach from us. If not, travel between Koh Chang and Koh Mak (or Koh Kood) will have to be done via the Laem Ngop pier on the mainland. For the fastest transfer use the Centerpoint ferry from Koh Chang to the mainland. At the jetty, you will find a shared "song teaw" service that will take you to the Krom Luang pier for a modest fare.
